ITVET is delighted to be sponsoring Windhill21 Primary School’s Equality Parade that takes place on Friday 17th June.
The parade is a key event of their Equality Week, commencing on the 13th of June. Equality Week celebrates the school’s commitment to diversity. They actively promote an inclusive environment that treats everyone fairly, regardless of their race, gender, age, disability, religion, or sexual orientation.
Sarah Watson-Clarke, teacher and diversity lead at Windhill21 Primary School, said: “We’re delighted that ITVET is sponsoring and supporting our upcoming Equality Week at Windhill21 Primary School. We believe that equality and diversity start young. We’re passionate about promoting and accepting the differences between individuals, and ensuring all people are respected. In our teaching, we discuss equality and diversity through age-appropriate literature and activities to encourage non-biased points of view and acceptance of others and it’s hugely exciting to be devoting a full week to this important area of the children’s education.”
Throughout Equality Week, there will be activities such as songs, drama, art, and workshops. Each year group will explore a different protected characteristic, learning that being different is our strength. In a grand finale, a Dress to Express Day will be held on Friday 17th June where the children will come to school wearing clothes that express who they are and honour their inner self. To celebrate in style, Nursery to Year 3 will showcase their outfits in an Equality Parade, waving their individually designed flags representing what makes them unique.
CEO of ITVET Ltd, Richard Fountain, said: “At ITVET, we’re passionate about diversity and equality, and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate this within our local community. We believe Windhill21 Primary School is an excellent example of showcasing true acceptance and preventing future prejudice with education. It’s a privilege to support their Equality Parade.”
